The Kingdom of Romkerhall was the venue for the fourth Micro Euro Summit from 01-03 August 2025. Forty-one people, nineteen micronations, and three days full of royal flair, diplomacy, and friendly activities made up this first micronational summit in Germany.

But first, a bit of background. In 2024, Zar Antonov and Arthur de Tourneau approached the MicroCon EU Committee to seek support for this summit in Romkerhall. Founded in 2023, this committee consists of Nicholas van Flandrensis, Yvan Bertjens, Jean-Pierre IV, and Olivier de Constance. Over the summer of 2024, planning work began. Approximately every six to eight weeks, the six organizers of the MES 2025 held a video call to discuss the most important matters, but also to hear all possible micronational gossip. Through this unique collaboration, the two committees were able to learn much from each other, share documents and roadmaps, and, in passing, strengthen the relationships between their micronations.
After many dozens of hours of work went into planning the Micro Euro Summit 2025, the time finally came on 01 August. Throughout the day, participants arrived in the Kingdom of Romkerhall and gradually set up their micronational displays, while the planning committee was quite busy setting up tables, chairs, and flagpoles. By around 5 p.m., most of the setup work was done, and the first official program item could begin. In the royal bedroom of Romkerhall, anyone interested could have photos taken of themselves on a throne. About ten participants took up this invitation before an equally large group climbed the Romkerhall waterfall to take a look from above at this micronation founded in 1988. Back in the halls of the small hunting lodge, the first dinner soon began in the hunting room and the restaurant. At the start, Princess Susanne of Romkerhall and Claus-Peter Enders, a.k.a. King George V of Hanover, officially welcomed the participants to their small kingdom. Participants enjoyed German beer and dishes from the Romkerhall state kitchen in informal conversations until the late evening hours.
On the morning of 02 August, things got serious. The uniformed participants covered in medals entered the King's Hall, and at about 9:30 a.m., the Opening Ceremony began with a short introduction by King George V of Hanover. The morning started with three presentations. The first, “Scammers, dreamers and small world improvers: A journey through 200 years of micronationalism,” was given by Nicholas van Flandrensis, before Yvan Bertjens delivered the presentation “Micronational nonsense: How to deal with foreign affairs.” Arthur de Tourneau led participants into the lunch break with his insight “Mapping micronationalists: Academic insights into age, motivation and origin.” Lunch consisted of goulash soup with toast and a snack plate, garnished with ham and cheese and bread, and for vegetarians, cream of tomato soup with cream topping and toast, plus four potato pancakes with apple sauce. After the bellies of Europe’s high nobility and political leaders were filled once again, Nicholas van Flandrensis and Arthur de Tourneau held an interactive workshop on coin minting. In fact, Flandrensis, Obscurium, and Duckionary had joined forces in 2025 to purchase a coin minting machine. Participants had great fun minting their own coins with a heavy hammer. This was followed directly by a workshop from Jürgen Schwarz on stamp design, with a short discussion on AI in the world of stamps. Then it was time for the two group photos: One taken in the King's Hall, the other in front of the iconic backdrop of Romkerhall. After a short break, the program continued.
Olivier de Constance represented Princess Olivia-Eugénie of Aigues-Mortes in the following presentation, “Etiquette and protocolar manners: How to behave normal in the micronational community.” Afterwards, the six organizers of MES 2025 came before the audience to give a brief insight into organizing micronational events in their lecture, “Uniting micronationalists: A guide to hosting micronational events.” After a short introduction by Nicholas van Flandrensis, Peter Zilvar from the Esperanto Centro Herzberg took the stage to present the planned language Esperanto in his talk, “Micronational Languages: The history of Esperanto.” This marked the end of the academic part of MES 2025. Arthur de Tourneau then briefly read the Final Points before the venue for MES 2026 was presented with a short video: MES 2026 will take place from 14-16 August 2026, in the Old Town Hall of the Czech city of Brno. Afterwards, the video for MicroCons 2027 was shown, and Olivier de Constance spoke a few words about these events, for which there was a special Romkerhall discount. At a moment when no one was expecting it, MicroWiki founder Fabian Schneider, MicroWiki owner Karl Friedrich “Luxor,” and Yvan Bertjens came forward. It was announced that Yvan Bertjens would be taking over MicroWiki effective immediately. Romkerhall seemed the perfect setting for this takeover. After this formal handover, everyone began dismantling their displays or collecting a few souvenirs from each other beforehand. While participants changed into tailcoats, dresses, and fine uniforms, the committee, with the help of some energetic participants, transformed the King's Hall into a banquet hall. At around 7 p.m., the diplomatic dinner began with schnitzel and a vegetarian wild boar goulash for the vegetarians. At several tables, participants enjoyed cool drinks, pleasant table conversations, and the royal atmosphere in Romkerhall.

After everyone had dined, the traditional award ceremony began. Obscurium, Duckionary, MES, Aigues-Mortes, Romkerhall, and Jaïlavera awarded medals, noble titles, or gifts to the participants. The highlight, however, was the ennoblement of some participants as knights or dames “until dawn” of Romkerhall. This highly formal ceremony was conducted by King George V. of Hanover and Princess Susanne of Romkerhall, both dressed in their finest attire to add even more royal flair. The evening then relaxed, and participants continued to engage in conversations and take photos, lasting well into the night.
After a short night, some participants met on the morning of 03 August at the UNESCO World Heritage Rammelsberg Mine for a tour of this more than 1,000-year-old mine, as well as an informal lunch at the restaurant there. Some participants then took a ride on the inclined elevator and visited the cultural sights of the city of Goslar before most returned to their normal lives with their everyday obligations after this crazy weekend.
In summary, one can say that the Micro Euro Summit 2025 was a great success, bringing together over 40 people for a weekend full of fun, friendship, and good spirits, leaving a lasting impression and good memories for the participants. This is the true spirit of micronationalism — spending a good time with friends and acquaintances while also learning and taking much home for one’s own state.
The MES 2025 Planning Committee is already looking forward to seeing you at the Micro Euro Summit 2026 in Brno (Czech Republic) and at the MicroCon EU 2027 in Aigues-Mortes (France).
