CENTRAL BANK
A parliamentary resolution was passed on 29 December 2022 to introduce the new Duckionary currency. This was used as book money from 1 January 2023 and as physical currency from 1 July 2023. On 1 January 2023, the Central Bank of Duckionary was established, which reports to the Ministry of Finance.
The currency unit in Duckionary is the Duckat (plural: Duckats), which is divided into 100 Kof (plural: Kof). The value of the Duckat is linked to the drink Kofola, whereby 2 Duckats correspond to the value of a litre of Kofola.
In March 2023, the General Directorate of the Central Bank commissioned the Indonesian designer Dias Han to design the first five banknotes. In May of the same year, over 500 banknotes were printed on 135 gram paper for the first time.
On 15 July 2023, the printed banknotes were presented at the Micro Euro Summit in Chyše, Czech Republic.
In September 2023, two new banknotes in denominations of 100 and 200 Duckats were commissioned, which will go into circulation on 20 July 2024. The issue of a 500 Duckat banknote is planned for the 01 January 2025. Redesigns of the existing notes are expected in 2026/27.
In March 2023, the first coin with a value of 50 Kof was issued in stainless steel with a diameter of 25 millimetres. In July 2024, a gold coin with a value of 1 DUD decorated with the portrait of Archduke Arthur will be issued for the first time. Another golden coin will go into circulation on the 16 March 2025.
